Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, was created in 1939, in Chicago, for the Montgomery Ward department stores for a Christmas promotion. The lyrics were written as a poem by Robert May, but weren't set to music until 1947. Gene Autry recorded the hit song in 1949.

Lead in: | r 9 -10 9 -9 9 -9 r | 8 -9 8 r -8 R 7 -8 |7 -7 7 -7 r -6 r -8 |

Spoken:
 -6  -7    7 -6  -5  -7 6   5   -6  -5  -4 -6 6
You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,
 7 -6  -5  7 6   5   -6 -5  -4  -6  6
Comet and Cupid and Donder and Blitzen.,
 5   5  5   5 -6    -6  -7   7  7    7  -7  -6  6
But do you recall, the most famous reindeer of all?

 6  -6   6   5    7    -6   6   6  -6 6 -6  6  7  -7
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer had a  very shiny nose,
 -5  6  -5 -4-7  -6  6   6    -6  6 -6  6  -6   5
And if you ever saw it, you could even say it glows.

 6  -6  6   5 7   -6   6    6  -6   6    -6   6   7    -7
All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names;
 -5   6 -5  -4  -7   -6 6     6  -6 6-6   6  -8    7
They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games.

 -6   -6  7 -6    6   5   6   -5 -6   7  -5  5
Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say:
 -4  5    6   -6   -7  -7   -7      7    7    -7  -6    6   -5  -4
Rudolph with your nose so bright, won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

  6   -6  6    5   7    -6   6   6  -6    6  -6  6    7   -7
Then how the reindeer loved him as they shouted out with glee,
-5   6   -5  -4   -7   -6   6      6   -6   6  -6  6 -8 7
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, you'll go down in history."
